Meet Rachael

Rachael grew up living with and taking care of multiple pets.  She developed a passion for animals at a young age and took an active role in raising, training, and caring for family pets.  Rachael carried this love of pets forward to her early work as a kennel technician at luxury boarding facilities in central Texas.

Rachael has carried her love for pets and passion for serving others throughout her entire life.  She began building a luxury pet boarding business when it became clear that no such service existed in Alpine to serve the Big Bend region.  Rachael brings her experience and knowledge from working in successful pet boarding businesses, as well as her love for all animals, to Big Bend Boarding.

Rachael is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and Wildlife K9 Handler. Rachael handles and trains her own dogs in wounded game recovery, scent detection, and wildlife K9 work. With this knowledge, Rachael hopes to help you with whatever your training goals are for yourself and your own dogs!

This business is a passion project for us, and we are excited to bring this new service to the Big Bend region!

Meet Alex

Alex always had cats while growing up and enjoyed befriending any animals he came across. He worked as an adoption coordinator at a local animal shelter, where he facilitated the adoptions of dozens of cats and dogs. There, he interacted every day with adoptable cats and dogs so he could explain to potential adopters their personalities, quirks, and temperament. Not only did he learn how to care for them, but he also learned how to create a safe, clean environment for them to be temporarily housed until they were adopted.

Rachael and Alex have a large pet family!  Over the years, they adopted several dogs.  They now live with a happy family of six dogs (Luna, Ruby, Dixie, Juniper, Jean, and Remi), two cats (Tango and Bee), and a snake (Reba).  They also open their home to pets in need as foster owners in partnership with local rescue groups to help pets get adopted into their permanent fur-ever homes.
